Advocacy in Action created by Jade and Giselle.
This workshop will be hosted by Giselle Garcia and Jade Nettrour, two SASICon project leads. In comparison to the other workshops, Advocacy in Action is hosted and taught exclusively by SASI members in order to foster a safe place for students to explore the realities and logistics of student protesting. Giselle and Jade will review fundamental first-aid basics and standard expectations, recommended personal protection equipment and procedures, de-escalation tactics, and personal rights. Workshop-goers will:
– Acquire strategies to react to unexpected situations that may arise during protests
– Learn protest First-Aid and safety awareness
– Become aware of protestor’s legal rights and protections
