SASICon
SASI works to host events to both engage the UCI student body and give faculty and staff recognition for their work of incorporating social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion into their course curriculums.
SASICon 2024: Speeches for Liberation
On September 28, 2024, SASI held an all-day in-person conference for UCI (and other) students, staff, or guests who are interested in engaging in social justice topics, particularly centered around protesting and free speech. This conference was funded by a VOICE Initiative grant of $5,000 from the UC Center for Free Speech and Civic Engagement. SASICon participants were eligible to earn a Professional Development Certification in Event Management and Public Discourse. This certificate was awarded to all attendees who attended, participated, and completed all of SASICon’s scheduled events for the day. Certificates can be awarded now through our Canvas coursepage which transformed the SASICon workshops into an online course.
