Mission
Origins
Founded in the summer of 2021 by Anika Tasnim, Keenan Do, and Suzzy Ndiforchu, Students Activating Social Innovation (SASI) is a team of undergraduate students at UC Irvine funded by the Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning.
Through research, writing, and discussion-forward events, SASI aims to reform UC Irvine at the administrative level to center interdisciplinary and diverse voices in all departments at UC Irvine.

Anika Tasnim
Co-Founder
SASI began out of a “desire to challenge the US education system dominant ideology.”
SASI members saw a “separation between our social sciences classes and our STEM courses” with STEM courses lacking a connection to the real world. SASI then joined the faculty-led initiative, End Racism Initiative, where they met Dr. Wray and Michael Dennin who would support and fund SASI.
